On July 17, 2018, the Faulkner County Quorum Court passed Resolution 18-4 which allowed Faulkner County to partner with the City of Mayflower, Metroplan, and ArDot to finance the construction of the Hway 89 railroad overpass realignment.
With the completion of this project, Highway 89 will establish a corridor to better assist with the traffic flow, help first responders better respond to emergencies at locations that are currently difficult to access, and help boost central Arkansas’s economy.
