Faulkner County was selected in 2015 to be a pilot county to implement a Validated Risk Assessment known as the SAVRY (Structured Assessment of Violence Risk in Youth). Since the Implementation, Assessment Tools and developing community partnerships we have seen the following results:

57% Reduction in the number of youth detained in jail.
42% Reduction in commitments to DYS.
35% Reduction in Delinquency cases filed in Faulkner County.

Beginning July 1, 2020 all Juvenile Justice Districts within the state will be required to conduct a risk assessment prior to commitment of juveniles to the Division of Youth Services. (Act 189)

2016 |  Drug Court Judge of the Year – Arkansas Drug Court Professionals Association.

2016 |  Service Learning Community Partner of the Year – University of Central Arkansas.

2017 |  Girl Scouts Opening Door Award – Girl Scouts of America.

2018 |  Community Leader of the Year – Conway Morning Rotary.

2019 |  Advocate of the Year – Arkansas Mental Health in Education Association.

2019 – 2021 |  A recipient of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Grant. *** 

     *** This Grant allowed the creation of Juvenile Court 101; a program educating youth and families on the juvenile system and empowering them to rise above their current circumstances, commit no further delinquent acts, and become community leaders.  The program is taught in partnership with local law enforcement officers, attorneys and community partners and volunteers. 

2020 – 2021 |  Partnered with local colleges such as UCA and Hendrix and Tech to provide more virtual options for tutoring, mentoring, life skills classes and even theatre classes, in a time when face to face contact with youth is not available.

2021 |  Gulf-South Summit “Outstanding Service-Learning Collaboration” award.

2021-2022 | Service-Learning Community Partner of the Year Award.
